Healing, Stability, and Real-World Tools

Books and resources created by Haven Homecare founder, LaRonica Miller, for people who are tired of just surviving and ready to rebuild.

At Haven Homecare Services, we don’t just care for people in their homes, we care about their whole story.

Our founder, LaRonica Miller, is a social worker, author, veteran, and woman of faith who has walked through her own seasons of survival, healing, and rebuilding.

These books were written for real people facing real life: single parents, caregivers, clients on assistance, helpers, and anyone trying to move from chaos to stability. You don’t have to have it all together to start. You just have to be willing to be honest and take the next step.

About the Author – LaRonica Miller, MS

LaRonica Miller, MS, is the founder of Haven Homecare Services and a social worker based in the Kansas City area. She has spent years working in behavioral health, housing, and community support, walking alongside individuals and families navigating systems, trauma, and major life transitions.

As a veteran, mother, and woman of faith, LaRonica writes from the middle of her own healing, not from a place of perfection. Her books are honest, practical, and heart-centered, designed for people who are tired of pretending they’re okay and ready to quietly do the work to become who God called them to be.

Through her writing and her work with Haven Homecare, LaRonica’s mission is simple: Help people move from just surviving, to stabilizing, to truly living.

Still Becoming: A Healing Workbook

For the woman who’s tired of holding it all in.

Still Becoming: A Healing Workbook is for women who are exhausted from being “the strong one,” holding everything together on the outside while falling apart inside.

This interactive workbook walks you through:

  • Honest reflection about where you are and how you got here
  • Guided prompts to help you unpack childhood patterns, relationships, and survival habits

  • Space to process grief, disappointment, and anger without judgment

  • Gentle challenges to help you set boundaries, rest, and rebuild

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about telling the truth, page by page, and letting God meet you in the middle of your process.

Perfect for:

  • Clients who are healing from trauma, loss, or burnout
  • Caregivers who give to everyone else and never refill themselves
  • Women in transition (divorce, recovery, major life changes)
  • Small groups, support groups, and church ministries

For Clients & Individuals:

  • People navigating Section 8, SNAP, disability, or other systems
  • Single parents trying to stabilize their home
  • Individuals in counseling, recovery, or major life transitions
  • Anyone who feels like they’re always surviving and never catching up

These books give real language, real examples, and practical steps not just “be positive” talk.

For Caregivers & Families:

  • Family members caring for aging parents or loved ones
  • Guardians and natural supports walking with someone through mental health, disability, or chronic illness
  • Parents who want to break old patterns for the next generation

Use the workbooks to process your own experiences, or to better understand what your loved one might be carrying.

For Caseworkers, Social Workers & Helpers:

  • Social workers
  • Case managers
  • Peer specialists
  • Faith-based helpers and mentors

These books can be used as tools in one-on-one sessions, resources to support goal planning, and recommended reading for clients who are ready to do deeper inner work and practical planning.

Still Becoming: The Guided Journal

A safe space to keep talking to yourself and God.

The Still Becoming Guided Journal is a companion to the workbook or a powerful tool on its own. It gives you a private place to:

  • Respond to reflection questions more deeply
  • Track your emotional and spiritual growth over time
  • Capture prayers, revelations, and “aha” moments
  • Check in with yourself on hard days and good ones

The journal is structured enough to give you direction but open enough to let you be fully you. If you’ve ever felt like your thoughts are all over the place, this journal gives them a home.

Perfect for:

  • Using alongside the healing workbook
  • Daily or weekly check-ins
  • Clients in counseling or coaching

  • Women who process best by writing

The Exit Plan: Learning How to Use the System Without Letting It Use You

A real-world guide for people on Section 8, SNAP, disability, and other systems who are planning their way out—not just dreaming about it.

The Exit Plan is a practical, straight-talking guide for people who are in “the system” and want to use it as a bridge, not a permanent address.

Written from the perspective of a social worker who has been both inside the helping system and a client herself, this book covers:

  • Understanding what you’re really in (Section 8, SNAP, disability, etc.) without shame
  • How to apply for school, grants, and financial aid in plain language
  • Starting a business the right way (EIN, licenses, taxes) without getting overwhelmed
  • Building multiple streams of income that make sense for your life
  • Making housing moves wisely (not emotionally)
  • Planning an Exit timeline that fits your reality—not social media pressure

It also includes guided pages, prompts, and notes for:

  • Clients
  • Caseworkers & social workers
  • Supportive friends and family who want to walk someone through an Exit Plan the right way

Status: Coming Soon. If you’d like to be notified when it releases, invite visitors to join an interest list or newsletter.

The Night It Broke

The Night It Broke is a raw, story-driven look at the moment everything seemed to fall apart and how God met me in the middle of it.

This book is less of a “how-to” and more of a “this is what it felt like,” for anyone who has had a breaking point they thought they’d never come back from.
